DONETSK, December 13The Ukrainian Armed Forces fired nine shells at Donetsk and Gorlovka, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine reported in Telegram channel.

“After 00:00, shelling was recorded from the armed formations of Ukraine in the direction: 07:40 — the settlement of Galitsynivka — the city of Donetsk (Kirovsky district), three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired,” the department noted.
At 8:40 and 9:00, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired three more of the same shells at the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka and the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk.
Kirovsky district is located in the southwestern part of Donetsk, Kuibyshevsky district is in the west of the city.
Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of the capital of the DPR; the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises. This is one of the largest populated areas in the republic; before the conflict in Donbass, more than 250 thousand people lived there.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Ukraine with long-range howitzers M777 of 155 mm caliber, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber were transferred to the Ukrainian troops.
