Muscovite, who had been stalking his ex-lover since 2020, continued to threaten the girl and her family after the verdict

Muscovite Ivan Matveev, who had already been assigned to compulsory labor and restricted freedom, did not stop pursuing his ex-lover after the court verdict — he promised that he would cut off her head and then hang it on the girl’s mother’s window. The history of threats was published by the Consortium of Women's Non-Governmental Associations.

Elena Samokhina broke up with Ivan Matveev in 2020. After this, the young man began to monitor her movements, the movements of her mother, and also send messages with death threats and beat up the friends of his former lover. In addition, he broke the windows in her apartment, wrote insults in the entrance and tore out the peephole from the door.

The police did not respond to the girl’s appeals. The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered the initiation of a criminal case only after the publication of the Muscovite’s story in several publications. Matveev was accused of violating personal integrity (Part 1 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code) and threatening to kill (Part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code).

In January 2023, Matveev was sentenced to 600 hours of compulsory labor, but the court considered the sentence to be fully served, since from July 2022 to January 2023 he was not allowed to leave his home or use the Internet. A few months later, in May, the Muscovite was sentenced to a restriction of freedom for one year and eight months.

Matveev’s defense did not agree with the decision of the appellate court, so they appealed the verdict in cassation. As a result, the court overturned the decision made in May and sent the case for a new trial to the Moscow City Court. Matveev's last sentence was announced in November — he was sentenced to 460 hours of compulsory labor.

Also, the lawyer of the injured party, Ivan Pugachev, asked to apply state protection measures to Samokhina’s mother due to a threat to her safety. According to the Consortium of Women's Non-Governmental Associations, the petition was granted, but no practical measures were taken to protect the woman

Despite decisions of courts of several instances, the man did not stop pursuing Samokhina and her relatives. “This creature will get everything. I’ll cut off her head and hang it on your window,” said one of the messages sent by Matveev to Elena’s mother after the May decision. He also threatened to kill her daughter.

On November 30, the sister of Elena’s new lover received an SMS from Matveev: “Tell your brother that I will find him, and if I don’t find him, I will come to your mother, and then to your father. We'll come see you too. You can't even imagine what kind of bullshit he got himself into. Wait for the guests. Or just give me his location, and at least everything will be okay with his loved ones.”

On the same dates, they tried to hack the girl’s social media accounts and her email. Her brother, Samokhina's lover, also receives threats. Matveev made him transfers of 1 ruble through Sberbank and wrote to the recipient: “You will choke on blood, puppy,” “I will tear you into pieces, bitch.” This is how he wrote to those who blocked his number.
