On December 17, the SBU reported the discovery of a listening device in one of the premises that Zaluzhny could have used for work, and stated that a criminal case had been opened. The Ukrayinska Pravda publication reported that the same devices were found on its employees.
«After the discovery of the microphone (at Zaluzhny — ed.), an inspection was carried out in other premises of the headquarters. All personnel , who had access to the headquarters offices, is undergoing a polygraph,” says a message published on the publication’s website.
Ukrainian media earlier, against the background of the conflict between the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and Vladimir Zelensky, found a hint of a Ukrainian trace in the installation of a listening device in Zaluzhny’s office.
Previously, a number of Ukrainian and Western media wrote about a possible conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhny. Washington Post journalists noted that Zaluzhny, who is popular among his fellow citizens, could pose a threat to Zelensky if he decides to start a political career. Journalists considered Zaluzhny’s recent statement about the deadlock at the front and the impossibility of a “deep and beautiful breakthrough” of Ukrainian troops, which Zelensky tried to brush aside, saying that the military was tired, as one of the indirect signs of a conflict between them. «Strana.ua», citing a source in Ukrainian political circles, claimed that Zelensky wants to hold elections in Ukraine, but they will not be announced until guarantees of Zaluzhny's non-participation are received.
