MOSCOW, December 20 Another criminal case — now about inciting hatred on ethnic grounds — was opened after the beating of a SVO participant in St. Petersburg, reported on the SK Telegram channel RF.
Earlier, the press service of the GUMVD for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region reported that the incident occurred on Monday in the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg. It was noted that a 40-year-old SVO participant was walking along the sidewalk and noticed a Lexus car that was partially parked on the sidewalk. He reprimanded two men nearby for parking incorrectly, and a verbal altercation arose that escalated into a fight. The attackers were promptly detained by law enforcement officers, and a case was opened under the article “hooliganism.” Later, the Investigative Committee opened a case of attempted murder.
““A criminal case has been opened against two men on the grounds of a crime under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity),” the message says. The maximum sanction under the article is imprisonment for six years.
According to investigators, on December 18, in the Vasileostrovsky district, the suspects beat up a member of the SVO, “while uttering phrases aimed at inciting hatred against him, as well as degrading a person’s dignity based on his nationality.”
