MOSCOW, December 18 Dancer and teacher of the Bolshoi Theater, Honored Artist of Russia Valery Lagunov died at the age of 82, the press service of the Bolshoi Theater reported. .
“Today at one o’clock in the morning the wonderful dancer and teacher Valery Stepanovich Lagunov passed away,” said a representative of the press service.
As noted in the theater, Lagunov was famous for his nobility of stage manners, powerful acting temperament and fantastically high jump — a “flying man”, as defined by choreographer Kasyan Goleizovsky.

Valery Lagunov was born on June 2, 1942 in Moscow. In 1962 he graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School, and in 1979 he graduated from the choreographer’s department of the State Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS). From 1962 to 1996 — artist of the Bolshoi Theater ballet troupe, since 1996 — choreographer-repetiteur.
