MOSCOW, December 20 Weekly inflation in the Russian Federation from December 12 to 18 slowed to 0.18% from 0.2% a week earlier; since the beginning of the year, consumer prices have increased by 7 .12%, according to Rosstat data.
“For the period from December 12 to December 18, 2023, the consumer price index, according to Rosstat, amounted to 100.18%, from the beginning of December — 100.45%, from the beginning of the year — 107.12%,” the document says.
According to the statistical agency, during the reporting week the increase in prices for fruits and vegetables averaged 2.1%. Including cucumbers increased in price by 8.2%, white cabbage — by 1.6%, tomatoes — by 1.4%, onions — by 1.3%, carrots — by 1.2%, apples — by 0. 9%, potatoes — by 0.8%, beets — by 0.7%, bananas — by 0.3%.
From December 12 to December 18, the price of eggs increased the most — by 4.6%. Prices for other products also increased, but significantly less. In particular, canned meat for baby food increased in price by 0.6%; sausages, sausages — by 0.5%; sausages, frozen fish, butter, sour cream, canned fruit and berries for baby food – by 0.4%; beef, lamb and rice – by 0.3%; milk, cottage cheese, dry milk mixtures for baby food, cheeses, rye bread, vermicelli, cookies, salt, lunches in a canteen, cafe, snack bar — by 0.2%; pork, bread and bakery products made from wheat flour, pasta – by 0.1%.
Prices for chicken decreased — by 0.6%, sugar — by 0.5%, millet and buckwheat — by 0.3%, wheat flour — by 0.2%, canned vegetables for baby food and margarine — by 0.1%.
Among non-food essential goods, the prices that rose the most were toilet paper — by 0.6%, as well as baby diapers — by 0.5%, and washing powders – by 0.4%. In addition, the price of matches, toothbrushes and toilet soap increased by 0.3%; for dry pet food – by 0.2%; for sanitary pads, toothpastes and laundry soap – by 0.1%.
During the reporting period, televisions rose in price by 0.5%, while prices for smartphones decreased by 0.2%, and for electric vacuum cleaners — by 0.1%. The cost of a new domestic car increased by 0.01% from December 12 to 18, the price of a foreign car did not change over the week. Prices for motor gasoline and diesel fuel increased by 0.1%.
During the reporting period, Rosstat also recorded an increase in prices for a number of medicines observed in weekly dynamics. The most significant increases in price were: Corvalol — by 1.2%, Rengalin — by 1%, Levomekol ointment — by 0.9%, Validol and the antiviral drug Ergoferon — by 0.8%, multivitamins — by 0. 6%, allohol – by 0.5%, analgin and combined analgesics – by 0.2%, anti-inflammatory drug “Nimesulide” – by 0.1%.
The cost of air travel in economy class decreased by 1.3%.
