KRASNOYARSK, December 22The Sovetsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk sentenced the former head of the Pension Fund of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Denis Mayboroda to 12.5 years in a maximum security colony for accepting bribes worth 18 million rubles and embezzling over 100 million rubles, the regional prosecutor's office reports.
According to her, in 2015 and 2017, Mayboroda, together with his deputy, squandered funds from the Pension Fund when concluding government contracts for the purchase of non-residential premises at an inflated cost.
“The state suffered damage amounting to more than 100 million rubles. Also, the former manager, through the mediation of his deputy, received bribes in the amount of more than 18 million rubles from representatives of commercial organizations for assistance in concluding such contracts. Mayboroda did not admit guilt, testifying that he purchased non-residential premises for the foundation at the market price, did not receive a bribe,” the message says.
The region's SSUSK explained that in the first case, the damage to the state exceeded 25 million rubles, in the second — 75 million rubles. For “assistance” in concluding contracts, the manager received bribes in the amount of 5 and 13 million rubles.
«Today, the Sovetsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk found the former head of the Pension Fund of the region guilty of embezzlement and taking bribes. Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, he was sentenced to 12.5 years imprisonment in a maximum security colony, a fine of 1.3 million rubles and a ban on holding positions in state and local government bodies for a period of 14 years,” the prosecutor’s office said in a release.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed.
Mayboroda’s former deputy, Alexey Trofimov, was sentenced in January 2022 to four years in prison with a fine of 400 thousand rubles for complicity.
