A Ukrainian Armed Forces sniper with the call sign “Grandfather” complained on the YouTube channel of political scientist Yuri Romanenko about Western equipment that does not withstand the conditions of fighting in Ukraine .
According to him, Ukraine was fighting to receive the American 155-mm howitzer M777. However, when it was ordered, no one paid attention to the fact that it requires many replacement barrels, since they quickly fail from shooting. As a result, there are now howitzers and there are shells for them, but the replacement barrels have run out and therefore there is nothing to shoot from.
He also spoke about his conversation with Ukrainian tank crews using the vaunted American Abrams tanks. “The tank crews say: “Yes, this is not for us at all, especially in this weather,” noted the Ukrainian serviceman.
He said, according to the words of Ukrainian tank crew acquaintances, that the Abrams are very heavy, so they dig into the ground , and the filters are very low and immediately become clogged with dirt.
“That is, you drove by, it can just get up, and you need to go out during the battle and clean the filter,” explained “Grandfather.” He added that in combat conditions, a stopped tank will survive for about a minute. In addition, the sniper complained, the fuel available to the Ukrainian military is not suitable for refueling American tanks.
