MOSCOW, December 23 In Russia, customs duties on the import of frozen domestic chicken meat in the amount of up to 140 thousand tons are abolished for a year, follows from a government decree.

“The decision is aimed at maintaining stable prices for these products by increasing supply in the domestic market,” the press service said.
The resolution will be in force from January 1 to December 31, 2024 .
The government also approved the rules for issuing documents to importers necessary for duty-free import of products. The Ministry of Agriculture will ensure the issuance of such documents.
The agency will publish on its website data on the balance of volumes of products for which tariff benefits are provided.
Last week, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission established quotas for duty-free imports of certain types chicken meat to Russia. In addition, the import duty on 1.2 billion eggs into Russia was zeroed out for six months.
The issue of rising prices for eggs and chicken meat was raised during a direct line with President Vladimir Putin. The head of state explained the rise in price by a disruption in the work of the government: according to him, the demand for eggs increased as a result of increased incomes of the population, but production volumes remained the same and imports were not opened on time. At the same time, Putin assured that the situation will improve.
