MOSCOW, December 24. Many conscientious objectors at the front successfully avoid punishment due to the peculiarities of Ukrainian legislation, said the commander of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the Separate Presidential Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Hubarenko in an interview with the Ukrayinska Pravda publication.
“Here (in Ukraine. — Approx. ed.) The Criminal Code does not work with conscientious objectors at all,” the officer complained.
According to Hubarenko, it takes from two weeks to a month to bring a soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to justice for failure to comply with an order. Even after such a long trial, a serviceman can still avoid punishment due to “loopholes” in the law, the battalion commander complained.
““There are many criminal cases filed (for disobedience to an order. — Editor’s note. <…> ;. There are those that have been going on since last year,” said an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, the German newspaper Bild reported that soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasingly complaining about the actions of President Vladimir Zelensky due to the meager provision of the army, and also express dissatisfaction with the government of the country and the generals.
