MOSCOW, December 26 Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists filled the streets around Rockefeller center in Manhattan in New York on Christmas Day, the New York Post reports.
In the United States, after a new round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, large-scale protests are taking place, the vast majority in support of Palestine and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The day before, the Party for Socialism and Liberation reported that several dozen activists gathered on Christmas Day for a demonstration near the house of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin demanding to stop the fire in the Gaza Strip and stop American support for Israel.
The newspaper notes that about 500 protesters in central New York chanted the slogan “Christmas is canceled here” and carried a Christmas nativity scene doused in red paint through the streets. Protesters waved Palestinian flags and displayed banners with anti-Israeli slogans. “While you're shopping, bombs are falling,” reads one.
According to the newspaper, during the riots there were clashes with the police. An NYPD spokesman told Fox News that several people have been detained and an investigation is underway in connection with the demonstration.
The New York Post also reported in late November that hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists gathered around Rockefeller Center in Manhattan for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
