MOSCOW, December 26 The flag of the Tver region, which has been in space, was presented to the regional governor Igor Rudena by a Russian test cosmonaut of the detachment of the Research Testing Center for Cosmonaut Training named after. Yu. A. Gagarin Sergei Korsakov, correspondent reports.
The presentation took place on Tuesday at the grand opening of the Day of the Tver Region at the exhibition-forum «Russia» at VDNKh.
«I spent my childhood and youth on Tver land and am very grateful to fate for ending up there. For me, this is the most beautiful region of Russia, its heart and soul,» said Korsakov.
In 2022, the astronaut took the flag of his native region with him to the International Space Station.
«The flag spent 194 days with me at the station, made about three thousand revolutions around the Earth, and supported me all these six months. This flag is a symbol of the fact that residents of the Tver region, Tver residents, there are no barriers and everything is possible,” Korsakov emphasized.
Receiving the flag, the governor of the region, Igor Rudenya, noted that Tver is the spiritual center of Russia.
The international exhibition and forum «Russia» at VDNKh will last until April 12, 2024. It is attended by 89 regions, 22 federal executive authorities, 20 companies, corporations and public organizations, with a total of 131 expositions.
