ANKARA, January 1 Ship traffic in the Dardanelles Strait has been suspended in in both directions due to thick fog, TRT Haber TV channel reported.
«Dense fog, which intensified in the Dardanelles, caused disruptions in shipping. Due to deteriorating visibility, traffic along the strait was closed to transit ships in both directions at about 02.00 (coinciding with Moscow time),» the TV channel reported.
Employees of the Directorate for servicing vessel traffic in the Dardanelles Strait warned by radio the captains of ships that would enter from the north and south, and announced the closure of traffic through the strait.
«After this announcement, the ships remained at anchorages at the entrances to the strait from the Marmara and Aegean Seas,» the report says.
