MOSCOW, December 31 In Egypt, Russian mechanical engineering products are respected because they have an advantage in price-quality ratio, said the Russian Trade Representative in Egypt Alexey Tevanyan.
“»Domestic mechanical engineering products are respected here, having advantages in the price-quality ratio: the Egyptians purchased a large batch of our passenger cars and are well familiar with Lada cars, which have been assembled at local facilities for a long time,» noted the trade representative Russian Federation in the republic.
AvtoVAZ expects to resume production of Lada cars at the Al Amal plant in Egypt in 2024, while we are talking about the production of only the Granta model, company president Maxim Sokolov said earlier in an interview. The top manager also noted that the Egyptian Al Amal could become a kind of transport and logistics hub for the supply of Lada cars for the entire African continent.
The contract for the supply of 1,350 passenger cars worth more than a billion euros to the Egyptian Railways (Egyptian National Railways, ENR) was signed in 2018. Production took place in Russia and Hungary.
