MOSCOW, January 5. The Ukrainian government approved withdrawal from the agreement of the CIS countries on material support and benefits for veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The draft law was announced by Taras Melnichuk, a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada.
“»The draft law «On withdrawal from the agreement on establishing additional benefits and financial assistance for participants of the Great Patriotic War, wartime home front workers and widows of fallen soldiers “The 50th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945,” he wrote in Telegram.
According to Melnichuk, the provisions of the agreement have either been implemented or “taken into account in the provisions of the law on the status of veterans and guarantees of their social protection.” He also clarified that since 2014 Ukraine has followed a “course of minimizing participation in the activities of the CIS at any level.”
The agreement on benefits and material assistance to veterans was signed on December 9, 1994 in Moscow. Kiev ratified it in April 1996 .
