The American lunar mission was in jeopardy due to engine failure
A problem with the engine occurred on the Peregrine lunar lander launched on Monday, the American development company Astrobotic Technologies admitted.
In the message It says: «Propulsion system failure has occurred.» Consequently, this threatens the spacecraft's ability to make a soft landing on the Moon on February 23.
Peregrine was intended to be the first commercial lander in more than 50 years to land on the Moon.
Astrobotic Technology, in search of a solution to the problem, oriented the landing module towards the Sun. This was done so that the solar panel could collect solar energy — the battery charge was depleted.
The problem occurred 7 hours after the module was launched using the new Vulcan heavy-class launch vehicle.
