MOSCOW, January 9 Russian President Vladimir Putin granted Russian citizenship descendant of Catherine II Andrei Kalageorgi, the corresponding document is posted on the website of the official publication of legal acts.
Earlier, the permanent representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of Russia, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Crimea Georgy Muradov reported that a direct descendant of Empress Catherine II and Prince Grigory Potemkin, Andrei Kalageorgi, intends to obtain Russian citizenship and settle in Crimea.
«In accordance with paragraph «a» of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, I decree: 1. Grant the following persons citizenship of the Russian Federation:… 13) Kalageorgi Andrey Leo, born on June 1, 1967 in the United States of America,» it says in the document.
