In Udmurtia, a Navalny supporter began to be tried on a case of vandalism and an extremist community due to an inscription on the snow

The Industrial District Court of Izhevsk began to consider a criminal case against 20-year-old student Artemy Perevozchikov, who was detained because of graffiti with anti-war slogans. Mediazona was told about this by the court’s press service.

He is charged with vandalism motivated by political hatred (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code) and participation in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). The case was registered in court on December 14, and the first hearing was held on December 29.

The security forces detained Perevozchikov in March 2023. According to investigators, he painted the words “Freedom for Navalny,” “No to war!” and “Russian soldier is a fascist occupier” in red paint on the snow and on “urban infrastructure objects” in the center of Izhevsk.

The student was initially accused only of participation in an extremist organization (part 2 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). Perevozchikov told the police that “he received instructions regarding making the inscriptions on the website of Navalny’s Headquarters, and received all the instructions there.”

The anonymous telegram channel “Operational Reports” published a video recording of the young man’s apology on March 23 before the army and “before Russia as a whole.” In the footage, herepents and says that he is “ready to participate in the SVO.” Perevozchikov was sent to a pre-trial detention center in Izhevsk, and later he was transferred to Moscow. At the end of December it turned out that the accused was returned to Izhevsk, where the trial would take place.

42-year-old worker from Rybinsk Sergei Streknev, detained in June 2023, was also accused of vandalism and participation in an extremist organization due to graffiti. The investigation called him a member of FBK and Navalny’s headquarters. Streknev was first arrested in Rybinsk and then transferred to a Moscow pre-trial detention center.

Perhaps the cases of Perevozchikov and Streknev are related to a new criminal case against politician Alexei Navalny. On December 1, the oppositionist said in a letter from the colony that he was accused of vandalism (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code). He clarified that there are two episodes in the case, other details of the accusation are unknown.
