In its debut market, the five-door is available with the same aspirated engines as its sister sedan. The contents of the packages are also generally the same.
Last year, Kia introduced a new budget K3 family, created to replace the global Rio (not to be confused with the defunct Russian model). Production of the new sedan and hatchback has been established in Mexico, where the “world” Rio was also made (its production there ceased at the end of 2023). The four-door was the first to hit the production line; it is already available for purchase in some countries in Latin America and the Middle East. And now the five-door Kia K3 is entering the market: orders are now open in Mexico.
Standard hatchback Kia K3 1/2 
From the outside, the hatch is basically the same as the sedan, except, of course, for the lack of a trunk tail. Exterior features include elongated headlights with sections of running lights “flowing” onto the bumper and fanged taillights, which are also united by a luminous plate. The features of the Kia K3 hatchback itself are something like roof rails and a spoiler on the fifth door. For both modifications there is a “sporty” version of the GT-Line; such sedan and hatch have a slightly more aggressive body kit, exposed dual exhaust pipes and 17-inch wheels (other trim levels have 15- or 16-inch).

The length of the five-door Kia K3 is 4295 mm, which is 250 mm less than the four-door. Trunk volume is 390 liters versus 544 liters for the sedan. The remaining dimensions are the same: width – 1765 mm, height – 1475 mm (GT-Line versions – 1495 mm), wheelbase – 2670 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the outgoing Mexican hatch Kia Rio: 4065/1725/1460 mm, the distance between the axles is 2580 mm.
The interior is the same as that of a sedan; a display is installed here, that is, a combined digital instrument panel and a touchscreen multimedia system. The contents of the configurations are also almost identical, but the K3 hatchback is available in four versions, while the sedan has five: the hatch does not have the cheapest one. The basic five-door has six airbags, an 8-inch multimedia screen, air conditioning, ESC and a rear view camera. Expensive options include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, climate control, cruise control, wireless charging for a smartphone, auto braking, lane keeping and blind spot monitoring.

Both the sedan and the Kia K3 hatch in Mexico are offered with a 1.6 naturally aspirated petrol engine from the previous Rio, the engine produces 123 hp. and is paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. GT-Line versions are equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.0 engine with a power of 152 hp, which is combined exclusively with a 6-automatic transmission. Note that in some export markets the four-door is available only with 1.6 (including GT-Line), and in some places the model received a naturally-aspirated 1.4 engine with 99 hp.

The price of the K3 hatchback ranges from 341,900 to 461,900 Mexican pesos, which is equivalent to approximately 1,834,000 — 2,478,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. The five-door Kia Rio is still available at dealers, and it is cheaper — from 323,900 pesos (1,738,000 rubles). However, the price of the Kia K3 hatch is not inferior to its competitors: in particular, the Hyundai HB20 in Mexico costs from 344,200 pesos (1,846,000 rubles), and the base Volkswagen Polo will cost about the same amount. Well, the price of the Kia K3 sedan starts at 313,900 pesos (1,684,000 rubles).
Later, the new hatch will reach other countries where the four-door is already available, but the family will not appear in Europe. As for Russia, our next Kia Rio could well be unified with the global K3, but now Rio in the Russian Federation faces only a “parallel” future.
Meanwhile, in its native Korea and China the designation Kia today uses the K3 for its older model, which in some markets, including Russia, is known as the Cerato, and in North America is called the Forte. So it is believed that the next generation of Cerato/Forte/K3 will be renamed K4.
