The Pervomaisky District Court of Krasnodar sentenced Vladimir Yarotsky to one and a half years in a general regime colony in the case of desecration of a symbol of military glory on the Internet (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the joint press service of the regional courts.
There is only one case under this article in the court file. The sentence was handed down on December 5, 2023. The surname of the accused is not indicated on the card, but Yarotsky's surname appears in the resolution published by the court.
According to the investigation, Yarotsky on May 3, 2023, “wishing for socially dangerous consequences in the form of causing moral suffering to persons whose relatives died during the Great Patriotic War and were subjected to violence, oppression and persecution by the ruling regime of Nazi Germany,” published on VKontakte a photo of a penis with a St. George’s ribbon tied on it.
As stated in the court ruling, the man admitted guilt, agreed with the charges brought against him and asked to be sentenced without a trial. As a result, the case was considered in a special order.
“Yarotsky was detained by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Krasnodar Territory,” the press service of the court reported without specifying the date of detention. According to court documents, as a preventive measure during the investigation, a resident of the Krasnodar Territory was given a written undertaking not to leave.
