CHELYABINSK, January 10 Deputies of the Kurgan City Duma accepted the resignation of the head city Elena Sitnikova, who resigned from her position of her own free will after being accused of negligence, the press service of the city administration reported.
«Today, at an extraordinary meeting of the Kurgan City Duma, a decision was made to early terminate the powers of the head of the city of Kurgan, Elena Sitnikova. <…> resigned of her own free will for health reasons. Deputies <…> unanimously supported her decision,” the statement says.
It is clarified that first deputy Anastasia Argysheva will temporarily serve as the head of Kurgan.
Sitnikova became head of the regional center on July 7, 2021. Before that, she held the position of deputy head of Kurgan, heading the department of social policy.
At the end of December last year, a source in the security forces announced the detention of Sitnikova. According to the Kurgan City Court, she is accused under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence resulting by negligence in the death of two or more persons). The court chose a preventive measure for the former head of Kurgan in the form of a ban on certain actions and an obligation to appear when summoned.
