Prices for edible chicken eggs from manufacturers for the last two weeks have decreased — by 2.5% in the first category and by 4.2% in the second. Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Maxim Titov spoke about this on Wednesday, January 10.
The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that the department keeps the situation with prices for socially important products under special control. In particular, all necessary measures are being taken to stabilize prices for eggs.
According to Titov, taking into account the decline in prices for eggs from producers, the price of this product is expected to become cheaper in retail chains in the near future.
In the Rostov region, the cost of chicken eggs has already gone down. By the end of December 2023, the cost of category C2 eggs was 140 rubles per dozen, C1 – about 150-160 rubles. Currently, you can buy eggs of category C2 for 120 rubles.
However, the General Director of the Russian Poultry Union, Galina Bobyleva, said that the established prices for eggs are “absolutely normal, adequate and fair,” so Russians may not expect them significant decrease.
