The presentation of the “charged” new product of the Japanese brand took place as part of the Tokyo Motor Show that opened today. Models will offer two traction battery options to choose from.
Nissan's first all-electric crossover was the Ariya: the production version of the model was introduced in the summer of 2020. Let us remember that it is based on the Nissan IMx concept, which was shown in 2017. Dealers of the brand began accepting orders for the “green” SUV in 2021. Now the manufacturer has prepared a new version — we are talking about the “charged” crossover Nissan Ariya Nismo.

The Ariya Nismo is based on the top-end version of the Ariya e-4orce, while the “charged” version has a number of visual differences from the “regular” SUV. Thus, the models left the same head optics and the same plug in place of the traditional radiator grille, but noticeably changed the front bumper.
In particular, the crossover with the Nismo prefix has a different design for the side and central air intakes; a splitter made of glossy black plastic is integrated into the lower part, which indicates the sports version. Just above there is a contrasting thin strip that runs across the entire width of the front bumper, then continues on the sides and covers the rear. The hood was decorated with a decorative wide stripe.

Red decorative elements can also be seen in the exterior mirror housings. The stern was left with the same lights, made in the form of a single wide strip that runs across the entire width of the tailgate. In addition to the red line, you can also see the Nismo nameplate with a red “o”, as well as an additional spoiler, which is located directly above the line of lights. The profile was also decorated with a set of new 20-inch wheels of an original design.

The interior of the Nissan Ariya Nismo also has several differences from the standard crossover, but they are only decorative. Thus, the interior was filled with “sporty” and contrasting red design elements: you can see the corresponding accents on the center console and front panel, lighting, stitching on the dark upholstery. On the front seats there is an embroidered indication of the “charged” version of the crossover.
On the domestic market, the model will be offered with two traction battery options to choose from — with a capacity of either 66 or 91 kWh (usable capacity — 63 and 87 kWh). In the first case, the weight of the car is 2080 kg, in the second it varies from 2210 to 2220 kg (depending on the version). In the first case, the total output of the dual-motor power plant (one electric motor on each axle) is 367 hp, the maximum torque is 560 Nm, and in the version with a more capacious battery, the total output of the system is 435 hp. (600 Nm). Note that “regular” all-wheel drive crossovers in similar versions have power of 340 and 394 hp. respectively. Dynamic characteristics have not yet been declassified; the performance will probably be better than that of standard versions — they need 5.4 and 5.1 seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds” respectively.
It is known that the Nissan Ariya Nismo will appear on the Japanese automobile market this coming spring. When the “charged” crossover will reach other markets will become known later.
Meanwhile, at the end of last year it became known that production of the “other” Nissan Pathfinder had started. This SUV is intended for the Chinese market, where its sales will start this year.
