MOSCOW, January 12 At the end of 2024, Russian Railways will launch a passenger car with shelves 2 meters and wider aisles, said company CEO Oleg Belozerov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
«At the end of the year, a new T-sized passenger car will be certified and put into operation. It differs from the previous one in that it is 30 centimeters wider, which means that the shelf will be longer: not 1, 83 meters, but two meters,” said Belozerov.
In this composition the corridor will also be wider. “The traditional problem of walking along a carriage is that the passage in the carriage is five centimeters wider. Additional personal space will appear. Accordingly, additional groundwork has been made and passenger carriages have begun to be renovated,” Belozerov continued.
Putin asked when such a carriage would appear. “In December – exactly the size T, more,” replied the head of Russian Railways.
