MOSCOW, January 12 Food inflation in the Russian Federation in 2023 amounted to 8.16%; during December, food prices increased by 1.49 %, follows from Rosstat data.
Non-food products rose in price by 5.96% over the past year, and by 0.42% in December. Without taking into account fruits and vegetables, food prices for 2023 increased by 6.14%, in December — by 0.85%, and fruits and vegetables themselves increased by 24.19% and 6.08%, respectively.
According to the statistics agency, chicken eggs became more expensive during the year by 61.35%, in December — by 18.17%, chicken meat in 2023 increased in price by 27.77%, but during December it fell by 1.9%, sugar -sand added 10.76% over the year, and over the last month of 2023 it fell in price by 2.96%. The price of bread and bakery products increased by 5.24% over the year and by 0.72% in December, for fish and seafood — by 5.82% and by 0.69%, for milk and dairy products — by 0. 5% for the year and 0.66% for December. Sunflower oil prices fell during these periods — by 1.41% and 0.1%.
For certain types of fruits and vegetables, the statistical agency provides monthly dynamics: for example, prices for cucumbers in December 2023 increased by 40.4%, grapes became more expensive by 8.2%, fresh mushrooms and garlic — by 7.6% and 7%, prices for tomatoes increased by 5.5%, cabbage and beets — by 4.8% and 3.4%, apples increased in price by 3.1%, and oranges — fell by 7.2%.
The price of red caviar decreased by 0.5% during December, black tea became cheaper by 0.3%, margarine and sparkling domestic wine, as well as chewing gum — by 0.2%, and the price of cocoa and natural instant coffee decreased by 0.1%.
