CHELYABINSK, January 14 A six-year-old boy, left unattended by adults, drowned in the pool of a thermal resort in Chelyabinsk, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for the region reported.
“»In the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region, a criminal case has been initiated on this fact regarding the provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of citizens, which through negligence resulted in the death of a person (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code)» ,” the department noted.
According to the Investigative Directorate, on January 13, a boy who came there with his mother choked in the pool of one of the cultural and entertainment complexes in Chelyabinsk. The tragedy occurred when the child was left unattended.
The investigator inspected the scene of the incident and also requested documentation about the operation of the complex and the persons responsible for ensuring the safe stay of citizens in the pool area.
According to the press center of the regional prosecutor's office, the department organized an inspection of compliance with legal requirements when providing services at a facility with a large number of people.
«During the inspection, the causes and circumstances of the incident will be established; based on the results of the inspection, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken,» the department clarified.
According to a source in the region's law enforcement agencies, the incident occurred at the Leto thermal resort in the Megapolis recreation center, which opened in 2023 in the center of Chelyabinsk. The child came to the resort with his mother, born in 1993, the family is not registered with the PDN authorities.
