An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred in the waters of Lake Baikal in Buryatia. Tremors were felt, including in Ulan-Ude, reported the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the republic.
«At 20.52 (15.52 Moscow time) a seismic event occurred 58 kilometers north-west of the village of Sahuli, Kurumkansky district,» they said in the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
In addition to the regional capital, tremors were felt in the Kurumkansky, Barguzinsky, Severo-Baikalsky districts, and the city of Severobaikalsk. The echoes of the earthquake were also felt in Chita and the Trans-Baikal Territory. No damage or casualties were reported.
