MOSCOW, January 13. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov no longer talks about the possibility of seizing Crimea, Kiev political scientist Dmitry Korneichuk said on the YouTube channel “Yes, it is.”
“
"Let’s Let us remember what Budanov spoke about six months ago — about completely opposite things. He talked about the rapid offensive, about the fact that plans had shifted, but, again, we would be in Crimea, and so on. The rhetoric has now changed, now they are telling the opposite things — that no one can advance anywhere, that the Russians have a large number of drones and minefields,” the expert noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian and The Western public is being prepared to “freeze” the conflict through media analytics and interviews with government officials. At the same time, they will explain to people that the country may not be able to withstand a long confrontation due to the overwhelming military and economic superiority of Russia, Korneichuk concluded.
Earlier, Budanov stated that in the summer of 2023 Crimea would return to Ukraine by force, and later said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces should transfer hostilities to Russian territory within the 1991 borders. After the failure of the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army, the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, Andrei Yusov, tried to justify the words of his boss. He stated that information from the military-political leadership is a kind of instrument of influence that Kyiv uses “when necessary.”
