Coach Bivola explained how the fight with Beterbiev will affect the prestige of Russia

MOSCOW, January 16, Ivan Orekhov. Former world champion in version of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Dmitry Kirillov said that the fight between light heavyweights Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol for the title of absolute world champion is a win-win option for Russia, since in any case a Russian will become the owner of the belts, this will demonstrate the prestige of the country.
Earlier, journalist Dan Rafael reported that Russian boxers Bivol and Beterbiev had already signed an agreement to fight in Saudi Arabia. Afterwards, former absolute world champion Konstantin Tszyu said that he did not want Beterbiev, who holds championship titles according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF), to fight with Bivol, who is the champion of the World Boxing Association ( WBA Super), since the Russians must continue to defeat foreign opponents, and not meet each other.
“”I said the same thing (like Tszyu) two or three years ago that they don’t need to fight. But when all the top boxers of this weight have already been beaten and all that remains is to identify the strongest – why not? If both want it, if it’s interesting spectators, (beneficial) from a financial point of view, then, on the contrary, this is the prestige of Russia – the two strongest boxers in the world are fighting for belts of all versions. A win-win option for the country, it will win in any case (regardless of who becomes the champion)”, – said Kirillov.
The 38-year-old Beterbiev, who competes under the Canadian flag, has 20 victories in 20 professional fights (all by knockout). The 33-year-old Bivol has 22 wins (11 by knockout) and no defeats.
