Russia may ban beer supplies from unfriendly countries

Imported beer may disappear from Russian stores. The initiative to ban the supply of foam from unfriendly countries was made by the head of the State Duma Committee on Regional Policy and Local Government, Alexei Didenko. The parliamentarian sent a corresponding letter to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

As Izvestia clarifies, the deputy proposed banning the import of beer from Germany, Lithuania and Latvia – these countries have become leaders in importing the drink to Russia in 2023.

Didenko noted that the listed countries sharply criticize the Russian Federation, support economic sanctions, but make money from Russians. He also expressed confidence that adding beer to the list of prohibited products for import will benefit the country.

«This way we will support domestic producers and give the opportunity to get onto the shelves of our stores to producers from friendly countries,” – said the parliamentarian.

Recall that at the end of December the Russian government extended the ban on the export of certain goods and equipment from the country for the next two years – until the end of 2025.

The restrictions affected technological and medical equipment, agricultural machinery, electrical equipment, turbines, nuclear reactors, fiber optic cables, certain types of aircraft, refrigeration equipment, some types of pumps and a number of categories ships.
