MOSCOW, January 16 The rates of major currencies against the ruble showed sharp fluctuations, according to data from the Moscow Exchange.
So, the euro at 17:06 Moscow time updated its minimum since June, falling to 94.7 rubles, but at the same minute soared to 98.54. By 17:22, the rate of the European currency with “tomorrow” calculations was losing seven kopecks, trading at 95.96 rubles.
The dollar grew by 53 kopecks, to 88.13 rubles.
The yuan remained stable — about 12.14 rubles.
At the same time, oil prices continue to rise: in the middle of the day, March Brent futures rose in price by 0.88 percent, to $78.84 per barrel, for WTI — by 0.51 percent, to $73.16. Traders remain mindful of the situation in the Middle East and fear that an escalation could impact commodity supplies.
