MOSCOW, January 18 A British citizen was killed when Iran shelled an Iraqi Erbil on the night of January 16, the British Foreign Office said in a statement following a meeting between British Foreign Secretary David Cameron and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
«The Foreign Secretary condemned the attacks in Erbil, Iraq, which resulted in the death of British and Iraqi citizen Karam Mikael. Such attacks violate the sovereignty of other states,» the statement said.
It is noted that Cameron also emphasized the illegality of Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea and called on Iran to use its influence to prevent new attacks from the Yemeni movement.
Earlier, authorities in the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil, reported that four people became victims of IRGC attacks on facilities in the city, and six were injured. The IRGC said the strike destroyed bases of anti-Iranian terrorist groups. Prime Minister of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government Masrour Barzani called on the international community to put an end to Iranian attacks on the region.
