NOVOSIBIRSK, January 17 Thirteen people sought medical help on Wednesday in connection with the accident on a heating main in Novosibirsk with the release of boiling water, they all received burns, the Ministry of Health of the Novosibirsk Region told reporters.
“To date, 13 people injured as a result of a communal accident in the Leninsky district of Novosibirsk have sought medical help. All of them have thermal burns of the lower extremities of the 1st-2nd degree. Two people were hospitalized at the burn center of the regional hospital. Both are in satisfactory condition,” it says in the message.
According to the Siberian Generating Company, on Wednesday in Novosibirsk a defect occurred on a pipeline with a diameter of 700 mm along Petropavlovskaya Street on the left bank of Novosibirsk. It is clarified that the damaged pipeline was laid in 1963, and in 1990 it underwent major repairs. On social networks, residents publish photographs and videos of fountains of boiling water gushing from the ground. The outside temperature is below 20 degrees.
According to the acting Mayor of Novosibirsk Oleg Klemeshov, as reported on the city administration’s Telegram channel, in the shutdown zone there are 69 apartment buildings, two buildings of a tuberculosis hospital, an ambulance substation and three educational institutions. Due to the accident, a high alert regime has been introduced in the city.
The director of the heating network division of SGK in Novosibirsk, Maxim Ryabenko, told reporters that by 9 a.m. local time (05.00 Moscow time) it is planned to install a new section of pipe to replace the damaged one, after which the reversal of the heat supply system will begin.
According to the regional Ministry of Health, all medical organizations located on the left bank of Novosibirsk, due to a utility accident in the Leninsky district, continue to operate in heat-saving mode. Hospitalization has been suspended by hospitals No. 34 and the Center for Family Health and Reproduction, as well as Maternity Hospital No. 6. Patients are sent to hospitals on the right bank.
