MOSCOW, January 18 AvtoVAZ will produce cars under a new brand at its plant in St. Petersburg, their sales will begin this spring, the president said company Maxim Sokolov in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
“We have already said that our product line will expand, including through partner licensing projects. Our plant in St. Petersburg will produce such projects. It was he who registered this new brand. Sales under this brand will begin very soon: in the spring this year. They will be in Lada dealerships, but they will be independent products of the St. Petersburg automobile plant,» he said.
Sokolov also confirmed that the trademark in the form of the “X” sign, previously registered by AvtoVAZ, will be the new logo of the brand.
Sokolov announced that the company plans to launch a new automobile brand in 2024 in early January . Then he did not disclose the details of the project. As noted in a conversation with auto expert Maxim Kadakov, most likely, Chinese cars will be produced under the new AvtoVAZ brand, the most likely contenders being Chery or FAW.
AvtoVAZ owns production sites in Tolyatti, Izhevsk and St. Petersburg. In mid-May last year, the French Renault transferred its share in AvtoVAZ (67.69%) to the state ownership of the Russian Federation. Now the brand consists of four families of models: Vesta, Largus, Granta and Niva. Sales of brand cars in 2023 amounted to 352.6 thousand (an increase of almost 2 times in annual terms).
