MOSCOW, January 20 Two minesweepers of the British Navy collided on base in Bahrain and suffered damage to the casing, the Mirror reported, citing sources.
“The million-pound Royal Navy ship Chiddingfold collided in reverse into… the British warship Bangor in a humiliating accident in Bahrain,” the newspaper writes.
According to the Mirror, both ships belong to the class minesweepers. Chiddingfold crashed into Bangor while it was moored at a naval base. In connection with the incident, a high-level naval investigation has been launched, which will establish how two valuable ships could have ended up in a similar situation, the consequences of which could be very expensive, writes the Mirror.
A Navy spokesman did not tell the publication the extent of the damage, but said that none of the crew members were injured.
As the publication writes, both ships are part of the British naval group deployed in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean as part of Operation Kipion.
