KALININGRAD, January 23 Lithuanian customs again slowed down, allowing half as many trucks through, creating tension on the border with Kaliningrad , said the Governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov during a direct line with residents of the region on the social network Vkontakte.
“»For about a week and a half they began to decrease, at first they began to increase the trend, reached the level of 140-150 cars per day, then they started again such an “Italian strike”, they began to let 60, 80 cars through. This is lower, than twice their capacity… maybe the situation will stabilize, but for now there is a certain tension there,” the governor said.
Speaking about alternative sea transportation, Alikhanov recalled that the President of the Russian Federation gave instructions for the construction of three additional ferries and the issue of the timing of the start of construction and financing is being resolved. These ferries will be similar to those currently operating on the line. According to the governor, the ferries “will be very useful to us in the medium term on the line.”
“»Of course, we also work with businesses. Many are now buying, looking for additional capacity, ships. We also help them with everything we can,» the governor said.
