BAKU, January 24 Azerbaijani delegation to PACE stated that it was ending cooperation with PACE and leaving the session in Strasbourg in protest against double standards in relation to the country.
““In the face of the current intolerable atmosphere of racism, Azerbaijanophobia and Islamophobia in PACE, the Azerbaijani delegation decides to terminate its cooperation and presence in PACE until further notice,” reads the statement of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE.
The statement notes that PACE is going to officially refuse to recognize the powers (credentials) of the Azerbaijani delegation.
«PACE motivates this provocative attack by the fact that their observers were not invited to the presidential elections scheduled for February 7. In reality, PACE's attitude towards Azerbaijan sharply worsened after restoration of sovereignty in September last year. Already in October, PACE adopted a one-sided resolution in which it accused Baku of “forcibly expelling” Karabakh Armenians,” the statement says.
