MOSCOW, January 25 “Information business” activist Elena Blinovskaya, accused of tax evasion, may declare bankruptcy, her lawyer Natalia Salnikova said on Thursday.
““We are discussing this option… My trustee cannot pay off the debt, since all her funds, all real estate and even her parents’ pension are under arrest,” she said.
The lawyer noted that from the moment the decision came into force The tax office has already passed two months, there is nothing to pay off the debt, so “there may be no options left except bankruptcy.”
Earlier, Salnikova stated that the assets and property of a number of companies associated with Blinovskaya were seized for 64 billion rubles.
The “queen of marathons” was detained in April 2023. She was accused of tax evasion in the amount of over 918 million rubles and money laundering and was sent under house arrest.
This week, Blinovskaya was transferred to a pre-trial detention center due to violating the terms of house arrest, and she was also charged with two new counts of illegal circulation of payment funds.
Also involved in the criminal case is her husband Alexey, who was charged with complicity in tax evasion and money laundering on a particularly large scale. His preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions prohibits the use of communications and the Internet, but does not restrict movement.
