ASTANA, January 26 The US demands from the Syrian armed opposition to inflict maximum damage on the Russian military contingent, said the President’s special representative for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, in an interview.
““There are signals that the Americans are setting tasks for their charges from among the Syrian armed opposition to inflict maximum damage on the Russian military contingent in Syria,” — said the agency's interlocutor.
He noted that this is being done not only in the south, where the Russian contingent is located, but also in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
The United States has already begun supplying the opposition with modern weapons and drones to carry out raids in including to the Russian airbase in Khmeimim, Lavrentyev added.
He emphasized that Moscow is trying to counteract these provocations.
