MOSCOW, January 26 Writer Boris Akunin* has been put on the wanted list, according to the database of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
«Grigory Chkhartishvili* (real name of the writer . — Ed.), May 20, 1956. Grounds for search: wanted under an article of the Criminal Code,» the card says.
< br />At the same time, the criminal article under which he is being prosecuted is not specified.
Akunin emigrated from the country and has repeatedly spoken out against the special operation. He also called for the creation of a “relocation assistance program for deserters from the Russian army.”
In December last year, Rosfinmonitoring included the writer in the list of terrorists and extremists. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against him for fake news about the Russian armed forces and public justification of terrorism.
In January, the Ministry of Justice added Akunin to the register of foreign agents. Many domestic publishing houses have suspended the publication of his books.
