MOSCOW, January 27. Russia is interested in supplying fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, mechanical and technical products to Myanmar, and expanding fuel supplies, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov told reporters following the results of the Russia-Myanmar intergovernmental commission.
He recalled that over the past year the trade turnover between Russia and Myanmar increased 2.7 times. At the end of 11 months of 2023, mutual trade between the two countries amounted to $1.1 billion.
“»We supply to Myanmar and are interested in expanding the supply of mineral products; at the request of Myanmar, we supply petroleum products, fuel, diesel. We are interested in the supply of fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, mechanical and technical products,» Reshetnikov said.
According to him, Myanmar is a major supplier of agricultural products, rice, fruits, and light industry products to Russia.
«Several large industrialization projects in Myanmar are being discussed, related to energy, ports, logistics… A number of projects are already entering such a stage, which is called construction. In particular, we have the Myanmar side ensured the allocation of a site for a fertilizer production plant, which significantly increases the productivity of rice cultivation in the republic,” the minister noted.
