The Insider: A Brussels firm owned by a GRU employee continues to supply instruments to Russian defense companies

The company Groupe d'Investissement Financier, registered in Brussels, Belgium, headed by the father of the owner of Sonatek, Victor Labin, continues to supply measuring instruments for defense enterprises to Russia. This follows from The Insider's investigation.

Journalists found that Viktor Labin, who now lives in Belgium, was registered in the dormitory of the GRU Academy in Moscow, and then settled in a house where some of the apartments were issued to military personnel. In 2000, he already moved to Belgium and opened his own company.

His youngest son, 35-year-old MAI graduate Ruslan Labin, owns the Sonatek company, which by 2022 supplied and serviced products for 18 defense enterprises industry. In particular, the company imported measuring instruments from Italy, Germany and the UK.

Viktor Labin’s eldest son Roman lives in Brussels and receives money from his brother’s company. In addition, he carries out actions against the United States and in support of the war in Ukraine. Vera Labina, Victor’s wife and mother of the brothers, also expresses a pro-war position, including on social networks.

According to The Insider, after the start of the war, Groupe d'Investissement Financier did not stop sending goods to Russia — Most often, deliveries were made to the Sonateka address — and they began to do this through the Turkish GROUPE DINVESTISSEMENT FINANCI OSBORNE. Journalists met Victor Labin in Brussels. He claimed that since February 2022 he has not supplied anything to his youngest son’s company.
