KAZAN, January 28 Firefighters extinguished a fire in the laboratory of city hospital No. 18 in Kazan on an area of 60 square meters, there were no casualties, a representative of the Russian State Emergency Situations Directorate reported Tatarstan.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan reported that there was smoke in the city clinical hospital No. 18.
«At 13.24 on January 28, a message was received about a fire in the administrative building of city hospital No. 18… Upon the arrival of the fire departments of the State Emergency Situations Directorate of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan, thick black smoke was emitted from the windows of the second floor of a two-story building. There was a fire in the laboratory,» it says in the message.
At 13.56 the fire was localized to a preliminary area of 60 square meters. At 13.58 the open fire was extinguished.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties as a result of the fire; 22 people evacuated on their own, including 15 visitors and seven staff.
59 people and 20 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
