Last Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Nikolai Bulaev announced completion of verification of signatures submitted by Putin's headquarters.
Presidential elections will be held on March 15, 16 and 17. Currently, 11 people are vying for the post of head of state. The Central Election Commission has already registered three candidates — Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov and Vladislav Davankov. They were nominated by parliamentary parties, so they do not need to collect signatures in their support to register.
Nominees from non-parliamentary parties — Sergei Malinkovich, Boris Nadezhdin, Andrei Bogdanov, Sergei Baburin, Irina Sviridova — must submit from 100 to 105 thousand by January 31 signatures.
Self-nominees — Vladimir Putin, the Russian Rada, Anatoly Batashev — need to collect from 300 to 315 thousand signatures.
Ten days are given to check the signature sheets. The CEC will decide on the registration of all candidates no later than February 10.
