MOSCOW, January 30 Irina Sviridova, nominated by the Democratic Party of Russia for the presidential elections in the Russian Federation, failed to collect the required number of signatures in its support, the party decided to support the current Russian President Vladimir Putin in the elections in March, said party chairman Alexander Zorin.
“Today we notified the Central Election Commission that we will not hand over signatures because we have not collected the required number of signatures that were required in all regions. In order not to divert the resources of the Central Election Commission and other government departments, we will not hand over signatures,” Zorin said.
He noted that the Democratic Party of Russia decided to support the current president in the upcoming elections.
«In the morning we visited the headquarters of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and conveyed the orders of voters, there were several thousand of them, but we formulated and transmitted more than a hundred. We expressed support, the Democratic Party of Russia will support candidate Putin in the next elections,» added party chairman.
The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting will last three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
