MOSCOW, January 31. The Ukrainian army is no longer conducting offensive operations and is not trying to attack Russian positions, British expert Alexander Mercouris said in his blog on YouTube.
“»Over the last 24 hours, news has only been received about Russian attacks, nothing has been said about Ukrainian ones . <…> The overall picture suggests that it is the Russians who are attacking,” the analyst said.
According to him, the difficult situation at the front for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the true reason for the political crisis in Kiev, as a result of which the president Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky wanted to dismiss the commander-in-chief of the army Valery Zaluzhny.
Earlier, the British newspaper Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the situation, reported that Zelensky met with Zaluzhny on January 29 and offered him to resign from his post and receive the position of adviser to the Ukrainian authorities. The Economist magazine, in turn, claimed that Zaluzhny was offered the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, but the general refused.
