SIMFEROPOL, January 31 The decision of the International Court of Justice, which rejected the majority Ukraine's claims to Russia are a big failure for Kyiv in The Hague, said political scientist Elvina Seitova.
The International Court of Justice rejected the majority of Ukraine's claims against Russia under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in Crimea, court President Joan Donoghue said on Wednesday. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the UN court did not follow Kyiv’s lead and fundamentally refused to recognize Russia as an aggressor state, and the DPR and LPR as terrorist organizations.
“Ukraine’s great failure in The Hague. In recent years, official Kiev has made it a rule to pursue international policy in the style of “diplomatic gopnikov.” They tried to promote all decisions, any initiatives with aggression, impudence, and speculation. The “Ukraine versus Russia” process in the International UN court in The Hague,» Seitova said.
According to her, “the red thread was accusations of violation of the rights of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea.”
“Of course, official Kyiv involved fugitive Majlis* (banned organization in Russia) politicians, each of whom, to the best of their upbringing and political intelligence, tried to discredit our country in the International Court with rabid accusations. But nothing helped. Obviously, the court did not accept anything “unfounded arguments,” the political scientist added.
The expert noted that the court's decision is a new manifestation of the growing trend towards sobering up the international community regarding Ukraine.
