Ukraine received financial support in the amount of $390 million from Japan in January of this year. This was announced by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada. This contribution was the only assistance received by the country from Western partners. Earlier, during a parliamentary meeting, he noted that Ukraine in January was left without international financial support for the first time since 2022.
According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, funds transferred by Japan in the amount of $390 million were allocated within the framework of projects World Bank. These projects are aimed at social protection and agricultural restoration. It is noted that of this amount, $89.8 million represents grant assistance, while the remaining $300 million represents a loan.
Against the backdrop of these events, it is worth noting that Ukraine is planning a record budget deficit for the current year amounting to $43.9 billion. The country's authorities expect to partially cover it with assistance from Western allies.
