MOSCOW, February 1 Presidential Press Secretary In Russia, Dmitry Peskov, speaking about the figure of former head of state Boris Yeltsin on his birthday, said that Russia preserves the memory of him, this is an integral part of the country’s history.
“This is an integral part of the history of our country, and, of course, we cherish the memory of Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin,” Peskov answered the journalist’s question about whether the Kremlin noticed the current date, and how they now treat this political figure.

Boris Yeltsin was born on February 1, 1931 in the village of Butka, Talitsky district, Sverdlovsk region. Graduated from the construction department of the Ural State Technical University (USTU-UPI). He began his party career in 1968 as head of the construction department of the Sverdlovsk regional party committee. Then he was elected secretary (1975-1976) and first secretary (1976-1985) of the regional committee. Yeltsin was elected the first president of Russia on June 12, 1991 and held this post until December 31, 1999. He died on April 23, 2007 at the age of 77.
