TEL AVIV, February 1 Russian journalists accredited in Israel were not allowed to attend the press conference of the rock group Bi-2 in Tel Aviv, a correspondent reported.
On Thursday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry sent out an invitation to attend the Bi-2 press conference. The event took place in one of the hotels on the embankment in the city center. The country's Foreign Minister Israel Katz was present there.
A representative of the musicians, Igor Rubinstein, said that, despite the presence of an official invitation, he would not allow press representatives. In addition, he made insults towards journalists.
The manager of the group almost by force tried to remove the agency correspondent from the hotel lobby and called security. At that moment, the artists themselves were there, who ignored all the questions addressed to them.
Then the journalist turned to the representative of the Israeli Foreign Ministry with a request to help resolve the situation, but, according to him, representatives of the rock group refused to let the specified media in , threatening to cancel the event.
The VGTRK film crew, as well as freelancers collaborating with Russian publications, did not attend the press conference.
Bi-2 musicians were arrested on January 24 after a concert in Phuket for carrying out labor activities without permission from the Thai authorities . They were sentenced to a fine and deportation. The artists spent almost a week in a temporary detention center of the country's immigration police. This week, the Israeli Foreign Ministry secured their release and transfer to the Jewish state.
